Privacy Notice

I am Dorothea Schueler, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist registered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This privacy notice explains how I collect, use, and protect your personal information on my website, dorotheaschueler.com .

I am committed to preserving the confidentiality and security of the personal information of all clients and visitors to this site, covering both my online and in-person services.

Personal Data Collection

If you provide personal contact details through communication (verbally, by phone, email, or text), you consent to the use of this information to fulfil your requests. The personal data I may collect includes your name, email address, phone number, postal address, emergency contact, and GP contact details. This information is solely for my use and will not be shared with third parties unless you consent or if required by law.

Website Usage Data

This website collects basic data to monitor traffic and enhance user experience. This data includes cookies and usage information, which helps me understand how visitors interact with my site. The types of data collected may vary based on services utilised (such as my hosting provider, security features, and installed plugins). For more detailed information about the types of cookies I use and how they are managed, please refer to my Cookie Policy.

Reception Service

In addition to my practice, there is a reception service downstairs where clients must digitally sign in. This sign-in may be recorded under a chosen name that does not have to be their true name, ensuring a degree of anonymity when visiting. The reception service collects basic information as part of their operational procedures.

Please note that this reception service operates independently, and I encourage you to review their privacy policy (https://lentaspace.com/locations/spitalfields/) for details on how your information is collected, used, and protected.

Storing and Processing Data

I implement security measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access and disclosure. While all session details remain confidential, I may take limited handwritten notes containing coded information and no identifying details. Data related to fulfilling client contracts—such as scheduling, invoicing, and referrals—will be retained until the contract is complete. For psychoanalytic work, data may be kept for up to three years after the work concludes. Any electronic inquiries not leading to counselling, psychotherapeutic, or analytic work will be deleted after three months.

Your Rights

During the data retention period, you have the following rights:

– Right to Access: Request a copy of your personal data, either electronically or in paper format, and have inaccuracies corrected free of charge.

– Right to be Forgotten: Request deletion of your data if no longer relevant or if you withdraw consent, subject to legal obligations for retention.

– Data Portability: Request your data to be received or transferred in a commonly used machine-readable format.
